How we rate and check courses
A rating is only useful if you know how it was made. These are our rules.
Draft policy. Which Dental will review this page with legal advice before launch.
1. Credential checks
| Label | What it means |
|---|---|
| Verified | We matched the provider's claim (awarding university, royal college, or CPD quality-assurance body) to a named public source, linked on the listing, on the date shown. |
| Provider-declared | The provider makes the claim, but we have not yet checked it. |
| Could not verify | We looked and could not find the claim in the source we would expect, or the source contradicts it. We contact the provider first and publish their response. |
We never describe a course as "GDC-approved" or "GDC-accredited". The GDC states that it does not quality assure CPD (GDC: Information for CPD providers).
2. Reviews
- Reviewers give their GDC registration number. We check it privately against the public GDC: Search the register and never publish it.
- Every review is moderated before it appears. We remove personal attacks, named individuals and anything we can't reasonably stand behind.
- A course shows a star score only once it has at least 5 approved reviews. Below that, it shows "Not yet rated".
- We always show the number of reviews next to the score.
3. Independence
- Providers cannot pay to change a rating, remove a review or change their credential status.
- Providers get a right of reply on any "Could not verify" finding.
- We are not affiliated with the GDC, any royal college or the BDA.
